What are Video Slots?
The original slot games were based on large drums with multiple faces that spun and stopped with a single face landing. As these were mechanical contraptions, wheel size was an important limiting factor. In addition, it was difficult to construct a slot game with more than a single payline. This led to the construction of computerized programs which simulate a spinning drum. As a result, the drums can be of any size imaginable. Instead of weighing a drum (which was used to allow certain combinations to be rarer) different amounts of faces help determine the odds of a given combination. These computerized slot games were termed video slots. Computerizing the slot games allowed for more complex slot games including multiple paylines and a variety of winning combinations. Thus, as far as correct terminology is concerned, any slot game that is played via a computerized interface must by definition be called a "video slot game". Nonetheless, the term is generally reserved for the more complex multi-payline games. Usually it refers to those with five reels or more (again, because of the complexity involved). As a rule, if the slot game design is made so that the graphics resemble spinning wheels, than it probably won't be called a video slots game.
Video Slots are More…Fun with the Same Slots!
Video slots are often considered more fun than regular slots. The reason for this is that the multitude of winning possibilities with video slots adds a great deal of interest and excitement to the game. With many ways to win, the player is almost always winning something or other. The graphics of video slots are generally more impressive with the various characters of the slot game winking, blowing kisses or cheering the player along. This enhancement also leaves room for the player to enjoy a greater measure of the slot game theme when he plays at video slots. Some video slots also boast bonus features like bonus slot games where players can win even more cash prizes. These features are derived from the fact that the computer interface can allow such features. They don't exist on the classic slot games because those tend to stick to the mechanical model which could not include such things. All these aspects and more tend to make the video slots a lot more popular than the classic slots. The video slots are easily one of the most played casino games on the Web.
